Climate Change is an Important Election Issue
It is disappointing that State Senator Roger Chamberlain chooses to ignore scientific consensus about the cause of current atmospheric warming. In a recent vote, Chamberlain was among 26 Minnesota State Senators who rejected the view of 97% of climate scientists that greenhouse gas emissions resulting from human activities are a key cause of climate change. Chamberlain has heard from me and others that solving climate change issues right now makes economic sense, in addition to ensuring our own survival. The solutions are available and cost effective. Yet Chamberlain believes that “not everyone wants to drive electric cars, heat and cool their homes with clean energy, and wash their dishes with energy efficient dishwashers.” Senator Chamberlain should care about protecting our children’s future from climate chaos. If he does not care about this basic survival issue, he should be defeated in the 2020 election.
